Scott Pillion

Newberry, MI — July 3, 2019

Helen Newberry Joy Hospital announced today that Scott Pillion, CEO of Helen Newberry Joy Hospital, will resign from his role, effective September 27, 2019. Pillion, whose career at HNJH spans over 21 years, has accepted a new position as Vice President of Finance and Controller for the Michigan Health & Hospital Association (MHA) headquartered in Okemos, Michigan.

Based in greater Lansing, the MHA advocates in Michigan and Washington, DC, on behalf of healthcare providers and the communities and patients they serve. The MHA is a nationally recognized leader on initiatives that protect and promote quality, cost-effective and accessible healthcare.

“This is sincerely a bittersweet moment for myself and my wife, Rebecca, as we will be leaving a place that we raised our kids and has been my hometown since birth. Newberry will always be home to me and I will always be a strong advocate for HNJH,” said Pillion.

Pillion began his career with Helen Newberry Joy Hospital in 1998 as a budget and financial analyst. At the end of that year, he became CFO and began transitioning to take over the CEO position as executive vice president in 2009 before officially becoming CEO in 2010.

“We know this wasn’t an easy decision for Scott, but it is a great opportunity to make a larger impact on healthcare for the entire state. The entire board wishes him and Rebecca well on this new opportunity,” said Nathan Neeb, chair of the HNJH Board of Trustees

The board is currently working on succession planning and is committed to ensuring a smooth transition in the weeks to come.
